Experience
Mechanical Engineering Intern — Odin Dynamics, Inc.
September 2026 – Present
- Owning full-vehicle wire harnessing: hand-specified 70+ harness drawings in Siemens NX from component STEP and instrument ICDs, plus material procurement, service loops, RFQs, technical calls with suppliers and outsourced fabrication.
- Owning the full RF communication mast, mechanical design through integration: hand drag calculations, Siemens NX assemblies, CFD for drag reduction and wake effects on the thruster.
- Built test rigs and ran DAQ for sonar, DVL and INS/GPS field testing; assisted with nickel fuse-foil blowout testing on custom battery packs.
Mechanical Engineering Intern — NASA Ames Research Center, NFAC
June 2026 – August 2026
- Designed instrumentation mounting hardware and wire routing in SOLIDWORKS for full-scale aerodynamic testing; produced DFM and GD&T drawings approved by aircraft mechanics and released for outside fabrication.
- Diagnosed signal clipping on Pacific Instruments strain gauge boards and designed a low-cost KiCad adaptor PCB to correct the signal reference, recovering two channels per board, scaled across several hundred facility DAS boards. More on that board.
- Rapid-prototyped a modular vane set redesign in SOLIDWORKS for 1/50th-scale wind tunnel testing; 3D-printed airfoils, steel-reinforced to withstand 150 kt airflow.
Electromechanical Engineer — UCSD Yonder Dynamics
October 2024 – present
- Designed and built carbon fiber Mars rover wheel hubs: wood-lathed mould, three-ply vacuum-bag wet layup, CNC post-processing. Cut hub mass by 50% saved our rover from hitting our 50 kg competition weight limit.
- Designed a TPU fin-ray compliant gripper for the rover manipulator: FDM-printed ASA housing, heat-set inserts, rubber-laminated contact surface. Fielded on our 2026 competition rover.
- Designed a 24 V / 60 A power distribution PCB in Altium: current-scaled traces, thermal pours, fuse LEDs. 20% smaller.
Research
Undergraduate Research Assistant — Gravish Bioinspired Robotics Lab
April 2026 – present
- Implemented a CAN bus network on a Raspberry Pi to increase closed-loop control bandwidth for a five-bar legged robot testbed; soldered and configured ODrive v3.6 controllers with Quantum MT5208 motors and encoders. Write-up.
- Diagnosed driver conflicts and specified an ODrive S1 + CAN HAT upgrade to help prevent future bandwidth bottlenecks.
Selected projects
| Mar – May 2026 | Machining Seminar Kinematic Launcher: ; spring-loaded launcher from supplied drawings. CNC-milled Delrin body and ball holder, CNC-lathed aluminium nozzle, manual-milled base plates and struts, manual-lathed firing pin. Held ±0.003″ across all mating features. |
|---|---|
| Feb – May 2026 | Thermoacoustic Refrigerator: acoustic pressure heat pump, built as project lead. Modelled acoustic pressure in ANSYS Fluent to find the resonator’s natural frequency for heat stack staging. Achieved a 4°C temperature drop. |
